Is Toyota pronounced with a "-ta" or "-da" ending sound (like Hon-DA)?
a friend of mine who claims to speak several languages fluently (such a liar) pronounces Toyota as if it is spelled Toyotda. this doesnt seem right to me and i think hes wrong. if i can remember correctly, i specifically recall reading somewhere about the founder of the brandname, a Japanese businessman and industrialist. named after this guy, the company started off being called Toyoda. later on, they changed it to Toyota (for what reason, idk). either way, its still pronounced the way it is now by Americans. how do the (true) Japanese pronounce it? why is it so ambiguous to have similarly ending/sounding people names? i can name a few that has this same problem: Hon-da, Maz-da, Acu-ra (-da), Shino-da?
