Default Why does my 96 camry smoke when i start it?
only if it hasn't been driven in a day or two, only when it starts. it has 121,000 miles on it. its a DX automatic Gold edition. What do i need to have replaced?

Don't know, but I totaled a mint collectors edition 96 camry about 6 months ago. (MISS IT SO MUCH) So when you find out, I may have the part.

check if the head gasket is blown. Did you put coolant?

you probably need an oil change, usually when smoke comes out it's from oil being burnt.































if the smoke is blueish and smells more chemical than normal car exhaust then it could be a transmission problem.































go for an oil change and hope to god it's not a transmission issue otherwise you will need a new car!

usually it is the valve guides which are seals that are around each valve. they tend 2 dry out and crack leaking oil into a chamber where it should not be. does the car smoke after it has warmed up? or does it smoke after idling for a stop light or idling for awhile. in any case there are oil additives which you can add 2 your oil that will probably slow or stop the smoke. please contact me and we can figure it out. mike

It sounds like you have some sort of fluid slowly leaking and when you start it up it burns it off. Take it in and identify what is leaking.

If its Blue you might have piston rings going bad,White,possible bad head gasket or bad gas mixture,or just condensation in the exhaust.Black,Valve stuck open or shut.

she's burning oil and get it looked at unless you want to blow your engine.
