Default Is there any disadvantage of having a VVT-i engine? Especially, during winter?
I heard Toyota's VVT-i engines are quite easy to get bad in cold winter condition, like -40... Advise me.

The VVT-i is an advantage no matter what the weather is like. It will improve performance and fuel economy.































However, it is physically operated using the engine oil and oil pressure. The camshaft postion is changed using oil pressure from the engine. You need to ensure that you are using the right grade of oil for the temperature conditions and that you change your oil at the specified times.
