However, Toyota and GM have a partnership venture that currently manufactures the Toyota-engineered Pontiac Vibe (a rebadged Corolla Matrix) and has in the past manufactured other Corollas for GM, which has given the vehicles sundry names.
In 1984, Toyota needed experience in manufacturing in the U.S. and thought it best to have a U.S. partner in a limited venture. However, since then, Toyota has expressed interest in terminating the venture, but GM has opposed its discontinuance. After all, it provides GM with its one reliable vehicle, the Vibe.
