change gears without the clutch?

ive got a 2007 toyota hilux sr5 and today i found out that i am able to change up gears without using the clutch and it doesn't make the crunching grinding noise either but i cant change down gears. i can change without using too much force but it is easier using the clutch. why can i change gears without the clutch? why doesn't it make bad noises when i do so? is it bad because it isn't making any crunching noises? thanks.

Well if u keep doing that , you will wreak your gear box and that will cost a lot for you to fix

firstly it doesnt wreck your gearbox or engine although its not advisable to do it constantly.

if you know how, its easy to change both up and down in any car.

its all a matter of getting the engine revs to match the gearbox revs. if you get them right there is a smooth change and no grinding because the two are timed together.

I've done that for years with no problem. It's easy when coming up to a red light to just push on the lever and move to neutral.

The speeds on both sides of the clutch have to match for you to do this. moving to neutral is easy, just a gentle pressure on the stick as you coast, and when the proper speed is reached, it moves easily to neutral. Up shifting is more difficult, but can be done. I'd reserve it for emergencies, as it is easy to miss and clash the gears.

To upshift, rev the engine a bit and move to neutral. then rev a bit more and move it into the next gear. The difficult part is how much to rev the engine, and that depends on speed, gear ratio, etc. With practice you can get better at it, or you can ruin your transmission.
