Default Should I buy a 1989 toyota pick-up?
The truck has 175,000 miles on it. Its a 4x4 ext. cab. The motor was replaced so im not sure what it's got in it. The guy selling it just so happens to be my brother-in-law. He's asking $2,800 for it. So what do you say?

It's too old and has way too many miles, even though Toyota trucks last forever. Offer him $2K, he's you brother in law anyway.

Don`t buy it, this truck seem to be severely abused. It`s not normal to change the engine of a Toyota (especially with only 175 000 miles).















Toyota trucks are often severely beaten and carelessly driven because it`s a tough and reliable truck. I recommend you to wait and buy a more recent truck with original owner or always carefully driven. Hope it helps you.

dont listen to these people! toyota trucks are great, the V6 engines for that year sometimes have issues but if its been rebuilt then it should be fine. I have a toyota with 169K and its the V6. Even if its the 4cyclinder and it was rebuilt its okay. Granted nobody here knows what kind of condition the truck is in, i have no doubt that that truck will sell for $2800. but it wouldnt hurt to try and talk him down.

its worth everybit of 2800 but if u show up with 2500 cash in hand hed prob let u take it home. my 1ton toyota truck has 353000 miles on it and still gets 28+mpg and 24 hauling a ton. and it hauls a ton 300miles or more twice a month. nvr had a problem put 43000 on it last year and all i did was 3oil changes and a fan belt. if u do buy the truck get straight 30W pennzoil and u should be fine for a long time. and always make sure u have oil in it. do not let the oil light come on if it comes on your screwed and the damage is allready done. check it once a week no matter what.
