My Corolla accelerates after shifting?

Default My Corolla accelerates after shifting?
I have a 2006 manual transmission corolla xrs. Why do the rpms go up so high after shifting properly. Ive had the vehicle for 3years and it has never done it before. Help! Can it be that I need new clutch, filter or my timing is off?

How much are the rpms going up? If they go up a few hundred rpm after disengaging the clutch (lower than 400) then thats normal. Whenever you release the load from the flywheel (with the clutch) you allow the flywheel to spin faster right after that acceleration.

it needs a clutch darlin,--sorry..the rpms go up because it is slipping. It will need a new disc,pressure plate and throwout bearing. Would be very wise to resurface the flywheel and real smart to put in a new rear main engine seal while everything is off and out rather than have it leak 20k later. Call for quotes and keep in mind the cheapest (aftermarket parts) are sometimes the most expensive when it has to be replaced 2 or 3 times. Good Luck---NS
