You're lucky if you can pass the emission test, usually there are codes stored in the ECU that the inspectors pick up on their tester.















Got a clue why the light has been on for 4 years, or are you just a procrastinator that does not give a S%$T ????















Go get the car scanned for free so you at least know what is bad.

Your check engine light comes on when 1 or more of your emission control sensors reports a problem in your OBD or On board diagnostics. If a light is coming on and going off, then the problem doesn't always exist. The only way to tell which of your sensors is reporting the problem is to have it checked when the light is on. You can have it done for free at many automotive parts stores like Auto Zone or Advanced Auto.
