Car question:1992 Toyota Corolla should we sell?

Or just get rid of? There is something wrong with it, but we're not sure if it's worth the effort to fix it, then try to sell it, or just have someone haul it off. Took it to mechanice twice, both times he said was battery. But it leaves us stranded, and the last time just died while I was on my way somewhere. Lights still come on, makes sound, but won't turn over. Any suggestions? It would be nice to get some money for it. I'm pretty sure it isn't a major problem.

If that sound is a loud clicking noise it will most likely be the contact set in your nippon denso starter motor.

All Toyota's are prone to burning these contacs out, but if it is that you need to find someone who repairs starters, not just fits new ones because there is never anything else wrong with the units.

alternator battery cables terminals, if it does have one, for the alternator, the fuse. or voltage regulator, but i believe that on that vehicle the regulator is internal. those are some common problems, if this person is a certified mechanic i am sure he would be able to figure it out..and if its a backyard mechanic check those things, and the belt that runs the alternator, there can be many reasons why a car would shut off, fuel filter etc. the awnser to your question is do what you feel like doing. money is a problem? sell the car if you dont need it. if you need the car, its better to put a little money into it than alot of money for another.
