Default Why dose the A.C. on my 2001 Toyota Corolla make a loud noise when set to high.?
Help!!I think there is a monster living in my car. Every time I set my air conditioner to medium or high. A loud noise seems to be coming from the glove compartment area. this noise is very loud and deep. Sound kind of like a fan of some sort. I dont know ANYTHING about cars. This car was just given to me and I want to know 1. what the problem is 2. can i fix the problem and 3. how much is this going to cost to be fixed.

when u set ur ac to high, the fan spinns faster making a louder noice.

You have something in your blower motor (napkin,tampon,paycheck-I've seen it all).If you really know nothing about cars (and I would assume tools),find some one would would charge about 1/2 hour labor ($25-$45) to remove blower motor & show you what was caught in squirrell cage..I think I answered all 3 of your questions.

Thats the neighbor hood rat wanting you to turn it down because he`s cold.Really it could be a defective blower motor.Can you describe the noise in more detail?

Its your fan blower motor. Located behind the glove box. It usually can be acsessed/removed from under the hood. It could be going out ,but, if the car has been sitting a while , you probably just have leaves or debri inside it. This is common.

the fan blower bearing is worn out need to replace blower motor
