Default Recommended tire pressures?
I have a 2007 standard toyota matrix. The metal plate on the driver side door recommends having a cold tire pressure of 32psi, but I the tire company recommends keeping my tire pressure at 40psi. Who do I listen to????!!!!??!?!?!

If the tire size on on the metal plate is the same size as your tires go by the metal plate. If you have different sizes tires than what is recommended for your car, go by the tire company suggestion

You listen to Toyota, the maximum on the tire is just that, a maximum the tire is capable of holding at maximum load the tire is rated to. Your car is considerably lighter than the weight the tires are capable of carrying, so the pressure is somewhere below the maximum pressure.

note you have a tire pressure monitoring system on that car you always go by the excat spec on the door jamb.

Def. go with what it says on the door. especially on a matrix i wouldn't do more than 34. Plus if 32 is too low your tire pressure light will turn on so you know to put more in. The light looks like an exclamation point inside a horse shoe.
