How can I tell if I have a 4 cylinder or a V-6 engine in my Toyota Tacoma?

Default How can I tell if I have a 4 cylinder or a V-6 engine in my Toyota Tacoma?
It's a 2002, 4WD, 5 speed manual, I bought it used and I do not have the specifications.































How can I tell what the engine is by looking under the hood?































Please explain any technical terms - I'm a neophyte with this stuff.

Count the spark plug wires...if there are four, then its a four cylinder...

count your plug wires if you have four then it's a four cyl if you have 6 you have a 6cyl

The easiest way is to look under the hood, and if it's a 16 valve, it's a 4 cylinder. If it's a 24 valve, it's a V6.

the quickest and easiest way is to check the distributor on how many plugs are running to it if it is a 4cyl you will see 4 or 5 wires 4 leading to the spark plugs and 1 to the ignition if it is a 6cyl you will see 6 or 7 wires 6 leading to the spark plugs and 1 leading to the ignition
