There are many in the US and Canada that are still going after nearly 300,000 miles.

No one really knows for sure yet as the ones that have failed are at too random of times and mileages to make an estimate and some have lasted a very long time. The highest mileage that I am aware of is one that got totaled at 349,531 miles still running on the original pack. Keep in mind that most of the few failures I have heard of were in NHW11 (sedan, 2001-2003) Prius while I haven't heard of any in the NHW20 (hatchback, 2004-current). The NHW20 does have a better designed battery module than the NHW11 and the failures of the NHW11 batteries seem to be from loss of water out of the KOH electrolyte due to leaking terminal seals allowing out-gassing during use.

Will last as long as you can drive it. I was asking the same question before buying my 2007 prius new.The dealership showed me the total amount of prius they had sold since day 1 and they had only 1 come back which was in a flood. had more problems than the battery . I now have 17,000 miles which isnt anything. but no problems at all. and if helps you feel better the dealer gave me 120,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty very fun vehicle to drive . and 48 mpg average city/highway . in bigger city type driving i have easily gotten 50- 55mpg good luck. U want see any probs with the battery system.
