Well it is very old and it depends if its still worth it to upgrade your car. I mean is it still in good condition? if not, sell it. if its good, I wouldn't recommend much with the upgrades. just buy a new one. less problems and looks better. but if you still want to upgrade, then change your rims and tires. put a tint on it. maybe repaint if possible or just wax or rub it. its up to you how far you're gonna go depending on your budget and time. but again, just replace it if you have the money.

dude ae86's are great drifters, u can build the crap outta them

if u have the cash here is what i would do

je forged pistons/eagle forged h beam rods with clevite rod bearings

1mm manley oversized valves

hks t3/t4 turbo

mishimoto 3in intercooler

hks cams/fidanza adjustible cam gears/greddy timing belt

all new gaskets

either exeddy or centerforce stage 2-3 clutch

hi-comp injectors

and theres a lot more you can do i just cant list everything

good luck!!

Like the others said, just drive it. Change the oil at 3,000 miles and replace any worn parts. 85-86 were good years for the Toyota assembly lines. I've got a 85 Toyota pickup that's got one oil change left to hit 300,000 miles. And parts are fairly cheap, if you stay away from the big discount parts chains. Use NAPA or CarQuest. Drive it like a sane person and it may last a few more years without problems.

and ae86 is just a term used for a corolla gt-s

you only have an sr-5 so technically you have a lower engine powered corolla, but no worries, its a good start, you can check out different car forums, im sure they will help. well since you have it stock, what are you building it for, drifting and track racing, or just for a daily driver

There are two 'rollas with the model code of AE86. One is front wheel drive and one rear wheel drive. Thanks to the "Drifters" you now have to pay a whole lot of money for the latter.

And yes they are a good car. Drive it untill it drops which will take a very long time. We have a '96 'rolla wagon which was bought new and now covered 300000 very hard kms. apart from routine maintenance (oil change, timing belt every hundred thousand, the odd set of brake pads) I've never been near it with a spanner

save money for a 3sge engine off of the lexus is200 or celica and do that motorswap. than buy a turbocharger kit for that. as for the body buy the j blood body kit and dont forget the 2inch over fenders. as for rims get rs watanabes...there kinda expensive but nice. there you go a fast and nice looking ae86. if you want the racing style look you should get the trd wing for the hatch.

An AE86 is a great car. Lightweight, well balanced and agile. www.club4ag.com would be a good starting point for you, to get to know your car better.

The AE86 (even a SR5) is a good car with lots of flexible tuning options all over. Oh, and it's the main character's car in Initial D, not to mention Keiichi Tsuchiya's favorite car too.
