Default 96 Toyota 4 runner shakes when gas tank falls below 1/2 full.?

Returned from long trip this summer (1300 miles) and started experiencing problems with truck when gas in tank was low (& we had driven over rough road). Had vehicle checked out and 2 cylinders replaced, though that was it. But, problem continued. Now the problem seems to occur even if tank is slightly below 1/2.- and engine light comes on as well. Still not registering anything on any dang computers at mechanics. Thoughts?

Inquire to your mechanic about "Fuel Pressure Regulator" maybe even fuel pump/ filter. The full tank helps increase pressure, which may help faulty pump or help push fuel through slightly clogged filter. good luck.

As other said could have clogged fuel pump/filter and its best sometimes 2 switch your gas station octane and then gas station...to see its not that gas octane rating or gas station....

sounds like you loosened the retain ingsystem on your fuel tank. as you use fuel , your tank becomes lighter and starts to bounce around.
