Default 2009 Camry Hybrid Question?

I'm looking to buy a Camry hybrid within the next week or two. I know demand is very high right now, but is there any chance that I can avoid paying full sticker price on this car? It's close to the end of the month right? I heard it was better to buy a car towards the end of the month because dealers have to meet quotas and if they haven't met them yet they are willing to work with you. I can pay in cash if that helps.

The trick would be to find a dealer who actually has one, can get one readily, or doesn't have a waiting list.

Any dealer with a waiting list knows you have no bargaining power because the demand is there.

Also, might I suggest you consider the Nissan Altima Hybrid-- It also uses the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive (Nissan licensed it from Toyota), uses a similar 2.5L engine, has about the same amount of interior space as the Camry Hybrid, and gets about the same fuel economy. But the Altima Hybrid qualifies for a $2200 Federal Tax Credit while the Camry Hybrid qualifies for $0.

That's a nice chunk of change right there, for essentially the same car.

Hope this helps.

Yeah right. You'd be incredibly lucky to get one down to full sticker price.

Does a hybrid really make economic sense for you, or are you just getting a hybrid?

If you just want a hybrid or it is for a status symbol - that is cool. But if it for economic reasons, ready on.....

To make economic sense, the vast majority of your driving needs to be stop and go city traffic, AND you have to adjust your driving style to suit the hybrid. There are many people who have purchased hybrids that are very very disappointed because their driving conditions did not make sense for a hybrid and/or they did not adapt their driving styles.

For example, if your commute is similar to mine (40 miles each way, about 50 minutes, not many traffic lights), a standard four cylinder Camry will get the same or better mileage than a hybrid because there is not enough stopping, and that battery pack is heavy.

well they are in high demand and to bring them down is going to be really hard no matter what time of the month it is. they know they can sell it with out trying. you can try but there will be some one always willing to buy it as is with out a hagle and they got a buyer that can afford it. it means you have to get ready to pay very near sticker price.

you will not likely find any deals on this hot car- especially the hybrid. In the long run, you might be better off buying the four cylinder as the markup will be thousands less and that buys alot of gasoline. Some estimates say break even at almost 100,000 miles.
