it needs to be running, but not only that it needs to be hot. start the car up and then drive it for 10 minutes or so.















this makes sure the fluid is at operating temperature and evenly distibuted throughout the transmission. that is how you get an accurate measurement on your tranny fluid.

Must be running, if an aoutmatic, must be in neutrol. Ensure you are on level ground
