Default 1989 toyota camry not getting constant power to fuel pump, only 2 seconds when cranking, what...

...do i check? pump is working fine when batt. charger is applied, new pump and filter. test light comes on only when cranking on engine and goes out after key is just in "on" pos. please help , you can call me on my cell if you wish 314-941-2468 tim thank you

fuel pump relay not holding in,relsy itself or earth/feeds to faulty

I'de check the fuel pump relay.The ECM powers up the pump during cranking to presurize the system.It could be a bad ignition switch .Get a wiring diagram. Follow it from the pump to the power,just like a roadmap.

This normal operation.Power only when cranking which is the same as engine running.Relay will swich off power to fuel pump after 2 seconds when engine is not running (key "on") as pump is not needed at this time only when engine is cranking or running.So it sounds like the relay,computer and wiring are functioning normally.I would recheck connections, powers and grounds.
