Default Toyota Prius MPG? Currently have a 96' grand prix ?

I currently have a '96 grand prix (3.1l) v6 with cold air intake and should get around 22 mpg city. But i punch the gas all the time so i really get 9-13 mpg. Which is really bad for that car. So if i bought a prius and drove hard punching it how many mpgs would i get?

If you punch the Prius, it will do less than a BMW M3.

Driving a Prius is a learned method. You can drive it like a regular car and expect high 20's or low 30's. If you learn to drive conservatively you can get upwards of mid to high 40"s depending on your climate conditions.

With a Prius, "punching it" will result in reducing the MPG, and there's really no need to do that with a Prius.

I own one and I get 45 MPG/city, 50 MPG/highway.

Get to know your Prius and check the performance (screen where bars indicate MPG according to the way you drive, i.e., you will get 100 MPG while driving when you do not need to press gas. The screen also shows efficiency during time intervals.)

Good choice in buying a Prius.

Best wishes.

Remember the Prius is designed to be a sensible midsized family car, not a sporty performance car. If you want a car that you can burn rubber off the line, don't get a Prius.

I drive my Prius sensibly, only accelerating hard when necessary, such as when merging into fast highway traffic. And I've always gotten at least 42mpg even in the depths of winter when it's harder to keep the engine warmed up.

I would advise you to keep your Grand Prix if you like to drive aggressively. And if you REALLY got your heart set on buying a hybrid, you should be looking at the Nissan Altima Hybrid, which licensed the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive but pairs it with a much bigger 2.5L gasoline engine so it feels much sportier, but can still get 35mpg.
