Default Toyota Catalytic Converter on 2000 Sienna?

I have a 2000 Sienna with 160,000 miles. Received Diagnostic Code p0420 -- Catalytic Converter about 6 months ago. Had the cosde reset and ignored it and it diodn't come baclk for 6 months until yesterday. Same code. Should I do the same thing and ignore it, get the converter relaced ($1,500) or buy a new car? Thanks for your thoughts.

you need to ask yourself this question; Do I love this vehicle and want to keep it for another 5-6 years? That will help you answer your question. The vehicle will go farther, but 160k is a point at which parts are starting to wear out--not just the catalyst. Lots of miles on the transaxle, steering rack, waterpump etc. If any or each of these go out they easily can cost from $700 for w/pump-timing belt to $3000+ for the trans. They may last longer, but if it happened tomorrow....You may be able to get a good trade now with car sales being what they are. Many offering 0 percent financing. Something to think about.
