I like the Toyota Camry better. I've never own a Toyota but the people I know who drive Toyota's like them. Toyotas are more dependable and they last longer than Subaru.

depends... what do you want to use it for?

if you live in a cold weather clime with snow, the subaru is the only way. it's more fun to drive too if you get the turbo.

the camry will be slightly more reliable and get slightly better fuel economy and is more comfortable, but drives like your fathers buick.

actually in that class, i wouldn't rate either car as close to the top (nor would consumer reports or motor trend). the chevy malibu is #1 rated in initial quality and in fuel economy in the class. (JD Powers, EPA)

the ford fusion is #1 rated in reliability in the class. (consumer reports, JD Powers)

the nissan altima and mazda 6 are the most fun cars to drive in the class (the mazda also has the most interior room and is the best looking) they are also both available with manual transmissions, which in the V-6 is unique in the class.

the honda accord is probably the best compromise in the class except for appearance.

actually the hyundai sonata has also ranked higher than either of the cars you mention, so if i were looking at an 09 midsized car, the camry and legacy would barely even be blips on my radar and start at about #7 best in the class.

actually the saturn aura rates about the same as the camry, the pontiac G-6 and kia optima are right in this area as well.

get the camry, you'll get better milage. you don't really need AWD. even here in canada, you don't need awd. you'll do fine with fwd and good snow tires.
