Default Is a 2007 Toyota Yaris (4 door sedan) with 50,000 miles a good car to buy?

With a tight budget we don't want to spend more than $10,000 for a used car. We want a decent car that's not too old (2006-2008) with decent mileage that'll last a little bit. We're also considering a 2007 black 2 door Yaris with 37,000 miles and a 2007 Chevy Cobalt LS with 35,000 miles.

They're all about the same price. Any ideas? We prefer the 4 door Yaris to the 2 door. We know Toyota is a better car, but is a higher mileage(i.e 50,000mi) on a Toyota similar to a Chevy with a lot fewer miles (i.e. 20,000mi or less) considering dependability and maintenance?

If i were you i would go with the Toyota Yaris, first of all even though the yaris has more mileage im pretty sure that the resale value is high! the reliability is INCREDIBLE i have a 97' Corolla and it hasnt broken down even once!!! they are very awesome! the only reason the cobalt is better is that because it has a bigger engine. u kinda have to abuse the yaris on the highway. But the yaris is very practical and FUN! But because the Yaris has a smaller engine its fuel economy is VERY good! To me the Yaris is a better deal! But in the end its up to u! Good luck with ur choice! =)

A well cared for Yaris will run forever, at 50,000 miles it is barely broken in. (assuming it was well cared for!) They are as close to problem free as a car can get.
