Default What is the difference between a japanese corolla and an american corolla?

I was at the dealership today, and the service rep. told me the part I ordered wasn't right because i had a Japanese built corolla and the part they had was for an American built corolla.

What is the difference between the two builds, other than quality.

BTW i own an 06 Corolla

From appearance, they are virtually the same car for most things, but there are some differences in some parts such as fit and trim for things like seats and upholstery. Battery and charge system for US made uses domestic built parts. Anti lock brakes may have domestic computers. The exhaust system may be different. Audio systems can be Delco or others. It varies depending on which piece. Japanese VIN numbers start with a "JT..." and US models have a "4T.."
