A car that runs on electricity and gas. Basically it uses a small electric motor to charge the batteries. Although that is a brief description, it is the theory behind it any way.

Is basically 2 engines working together to do the same thing. Move you down the road. One would be a gasoline driven engine, and the other is an electric motor. And they are connected together in a way, where they work together to move the vehicle.

A hybrid car can be simply defined as a car with 2 power sources. Normal cars use either a gasoline or diesel engine. A hybrid car uses a battery and a motor, which works in tandem with the diesel or petrol engine. The battery gets charged every time one applies a brake or uses part of the engine power to get charged. The Battery+Motor powers the engine in city speeds while the gasoline/diesel engine powers the car at highway speeds.
