yes, with the cold weather, we are having a huge problem with rodents crawling up under the manifolds or heat ducts and either making a nest, chewing the wiring or leaving waste....right up by where the fresh air comes in for your heater.It can have a real ammonia smell. If you have a late model 4runner (03 or newer) it has a cabin filter behind the glovebox that should be changed about every 15,000 miles anyway. Sometimes rats can even get inside or worse, get killed by the blower motor and die inside your heat ducts. The damage they do can be tremendous, so do some investigating starting under the hood by the battery and intake manifold. They can do thousands in damage to the wire harness,fuel hoses, heater hoses etc. We had one truck return 4 times with rodent damage. You can get small green bait blocks at the hardware store and wire-tie them by the battery or intake-even if you do not have evidence of rats--it's wise to do this as preventative. Good Luck T&T
