Default What is bad about Toyota losing $5 Billion?

Like what might happen, and what could happen now that they lost so much money. How will it affect the world? Or does it matter?

The rest of the world, I'm sure will be fine.

Toyota's losses are related to a huge slow down in consumer spending.

It's Toyota's first loss since 1960.

It's bad if you are a Toyota stockholder.

They have hundreds of billions of dollars to draw upon, thanks to good planning, though.

No sweat.

That was their first operating loss in a VERY long time. A few years ago, it was a big deal when Ford lost like $12 million. Now look at how much they have lost over the last few quarters. They are still hanging on and continuing to look to the future.

Obviously people directly involved with Toyota may be at risk (salesmen, blue collar workers, white collar workers) but the company will probably be alright.
