one or two sizes bigger than stock easy without lifting and bigger tire cuts mileage and power

Murders eat up quickly driving on pavement and are noisy.

if you just want the more aggressive look, the A/T's will hurt performance less.

If you are actually going to use it off road, get the tire that best matches the terrain you'll be driving.

the aggressive tread, larger size, all will hurt your mpg and acceleration.

I would go with all terrains, mud just too noisy and wear down too fast.

you could probally put on 31's without having to lift your 4runner, bfg mud terrains look great, and are VERY nice in snow and mud, not to bad in the rain on the street, and yes going with a larger tire you will lose a little acceleration and gas mileage. tha a/t are a great all around tire that will last for a few more miles than the mudders. i prefer to buy mudders and just deel with the mileage you get, they look great, sound aggresive on the street, and if need be they might be the difference in getting you out of something(mud, snow)
