Default Towing capacity for 4 cylinder small SUVs?

I am looking into an 05 Mercury Mariner, and an 04 Toyota RAV4 both of which have 4 cylinder engines. I found online that max towing capacity is 1500 lbs.

Has anyone successfully towed a small Uhaul Trailer with an SUV with 4cylinder before?? If so please share!!

My 4 cylinder Camry's rated at 2000 pounds, but I routenly haul 3800 pounds. No problems. You should be able to tow a small trailer with no problem.

it should be fine pulling,

but stopping is why it is rated at 1500 lbs

i had a 22re toyota pickup and pulled another pickup same year which was 4400 lbs.

just from experience it pulls ok goes slow, but its really hard to slow down.

A small U-haul trailer weighs about 1000lbs without anything inside, so it should work.
