Check the fuses first,then check the wiring loom at the back of the truck.Check that the connectors are connected together properly.If you can use a "power light" to check for power going back to the rear of your truck.
turn the switch on. and use a test light or a multimeter on the continunity setting with beep. lets say with a test light ground the ground of the test light and use the tip to trace the wire down the car. basicly you want to test the wires to see if theres any wire broken on that circuit. if you have a hard time with that a wire diagram for the headlight circut would be very handy. most auto parts places should be able to get you one but for that age toyota you might be out of luck.
