What does it mean when the dealer says remaining brakes FT 8 RR 8

It means that you have 8/32 of brake remaining, I am not sure, but I think that is a value of 8/32 out of 12/32

You must ask your dealer what measurement they are doing. It could be 8/32", 8mm, or 80%, but regardless, they will be talking about your pad thickness, not your rotor thickness/life.

the tech is referring to FT = front, RR = rear and 8 = 8.0 millimeters ..... your front pads have 8.0 mm left and the rear pads have 8.0mm left of pad material. new pads are approximately 10.0mm new
