The oil light is usually not related to the check engine light on this model in most circumstances. To read the chk engine lite, jumper the connector, then turn the ignition on and count the number of flashes to get the number of the code. The oil light flashes usually because the auxiliary reservoir is low on oil. They had a problem with the float sensor sticking on inside the oil pan. When this happened it would overfill the engine crankcase with oil and drain the backup aux reservoir. To test this theory, flip the driver seat up and lift the carpet-open the engine cover and check the oil level. If it is way overfull and the reservoir under the hood is empty, then it needs a new sensor. Good news is, it comes out the side of the pan with 4 bolts and an o-ring--bad news is they are spendy--about $285. It was a great idea and rarely did Previa run out of oil-just the sensor float was made of a phenolic and would swell and stick from fuel vapor/oil. I think you will find the lite flashes because the aux reservoir is low or near empty. Good Luck--T&T
