toyota tacoma towing?

Default toyota tacoma towing?
2001 4x4 2.7 liter 5spd. wondering if it will be fine to tow a acura integra on a tow dolly . also should i put in 4x4 while im towing do i need a trans cooler to tow the car it iwll be about 2hr drive on the highway about 2 times a month at most. let me konw what you think thanks.

Your truck will do it, but I would not recommend going very fast. Its not going to accelerate very well at all, but thats not a big deal really. Stopping it might be the hardest part, so don't get moving too quick and use your down shifting to your advantage to slow the truck.































You have a manual transmission so you CAN NOT add a transmission cooler, its does not work the same as an auto transmission.































DO NOT put it in 4x4 on the pavement, making turns will bind the drive train and possibly hurt stuff. It will not make a difference anyway towing in 2WD or 4WD

4x4 is for traction , not torque for pulling. It will tow 3500 lb's so drive slow but it will be OK.

Yup no problem. I had a '97 Tacoma, 2.7, 4x4, 5-speed. I towed a MR2 (about 2300 lbs) form southern Virgina to Northern Illinois about a 12 hour drive. No problems at all. Like Salt said you cant install a oil cooler on a manual trans. You don't need to 4x4 unless you don't have any traction to take off (snow, mud). I don't recommend engine braking to slow down, that's an extra 2500 lbs the clutch has to take if its worn down a bit (high mileage) it can slip or worse. But you shouldn't have a problem with a 2 hour commute.
