Best way to change the timing belt is to drop the engine, my other half just bought a J reg MR2 GT Tbar at the weekend and we've been quoted £200 at a local garage for changing the belt and that's if you get the belt etc yourself.
A small garage will be way cheaper than a main dealership as they usually charge out about £70 per hour where a smaller garage is about £25 depending on where you live.
