i want to put a 4.7 tundra engine in my 2002 explorer(4.6).?

i have a 4.6 liter v8 and its got 104,000 miles on it. its starting to give me problems so i figure the toyota engine will last me another 7 years. do you think its possible, and would it be more than $6,000 if i got the labor free from family i like my truck so to me its worth it.

That is a stupid idea. If you wanted to put that motor in the car, then you would have to change the transmission out too. All the motor mounts and mount perches would have to be fabricated to fit the frame. The driveshaft and rear end assembly would probably have to be swapped out to accomodate the different transmission. Your explorers on board computer would have to have a custom program set-up in it to try and make everything work.

It just is not logical to do. You would essentially be re-engineering the entire vehicle. And severely devalueing it in the process.

if you have to change an engine you have the whole wire had change i did man Trust me. Yo i have 2002 explorer and i did with my family and it cost me 9,000

don't bother.............to many problems with engine mounts, computer management, hoses, electrical, and a host of other problems too numerous to mention...just get a rebuilt motor for about $1500 and you be happy.............or go the the v-8 from a MUSTANG....it'll just fit like a glove.
