There really isn't a latch that is easily accessable. The trim on the rear hatch needs to be removed to access the machanicals to both open the hatch and to replace the broken latch. Wish I could give you better news, but as far as I am aware, that's the only real way to access it.
there is no inside latch , I use bent nedle nose plyers to open is with a broken handle ,this is a common problem , the new handle is a new inproved one , so it will not happen again .
