engine sound have? i use a 2002 toyota corolla. i recently change my engine oil to total quartz 7000 10w40. my engine sound have change and i dont know why. it is noisy now than it was before.i live in a hot climate-25-33 degrees celsius. what engine oil will be good for my car. the manuel says sae 5w30."

I had a 2003 toyota corolla up till a year or so ago. I always used valvoline 5w30, never had any issues with it. I usually do what the manufacturer suggests, and don't stray too far from that.

I agree with Jeffry, and also I would stay away from any 10w40 oil period. I have seen stats that don't look very good regarding that particular weight.

Stick with what the manuafacturer and Jeffry said, go 5W30. That's what the car calls for. Modern cars don't need the higher grades like cars of the past- even at higher mileage.

I think that's too heavy of a weight for a Toyota. Most Toyotas recommend 5w30, and sometimes I used 10w30, but never 10w40.

all manuals are specific for the vehicle only. the oil grades are set to be seasonal specific.....ie; liter grades for cold and heavier for hot.

refer to the manual for oil grade as it also has a corresponding temp chart.

also....

all engines has a specific oil diet due to different manufacturers designs in engine parts ie; ash levels requierments, piston ring configurations etc.
