Wheel wobbles? Whats the issue?

My mom has a 1994 Toyota Tercel, 4 door. She flipped it the other day, and managed to do very minor damage. After fixing the body work done, and getting new tires, we noticed that her rear wheels wobble. I can put my foot on the top of the tire and wobble the entire rim and drum brake assembly. Someone suggested wheel bearings, and someone else suggested axle bearings. Any way I can tell what precisely it is, and what would be an estimate of cost to fix? I am slightly mechanically inclined, how hard would it be (and what tools would be required) to change such as wheel bearings and/or axle bearings?

sounds like a bent axle hub

probably need to replace the whole back hub

(the main axle from support out)

If the play is in the rear wheel bearings you are lucky. They are the old fashioned type and can be repacked and adjusted. Take off the brake drums, clean all of the grease off of the bearings, inspect them to be sure there is no damage. When they are clean and dry they should turn very smoothly in the races. Repack the bearings with a quality wheel bearing grease. Then reassemble the lot and tighten the nut until all play is just removed. Spin the drum a few times and check the adjustment again. Put in a new cotter pin and you are done.
