Default 2009 toyota corolla question?
i recently bouyght a 2009 toyota corolla and it is auto. what does 3-d mean? I know D=drive but what does the 3 mean if u set it because its right next to the D. Thanks

I am not exactly sure but i think it is third gear i have a toyota sienna and 4 means four wheel drive.

3d means that you will have gears 1-3. It keeps the car from shifting into overdrive.

Jash-you are wrong about your Sienna. If it's an awd Sienna it is always awd period. You can't turn it off when you please. Original question- yes 3rd gear basically. It's the same thing as O/D off that most other cars have. Just keep it in D for 99.99% of driving.

The Corolla has a 4 speed automatic transmission. If you select 3-d you'll be driving in third gear rather than fourth gear. Leave it in D (drive) and the car will select the right gear for the way you're driving. (Geesh, what's with all the bogus answers!?)
