Default 2008 Toyota Corolla upgrades, does it cancel my warranty with Toyota?
I added a short ram intake to my 08 Corolla S (16000 miles) and I was thinking of changing the exhaust headers and possibly other things. Will doing this affect the warranty that Toyota gives to it's vehicles? Their warranty is 3 years 36000 miles for the engine and transmission. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

it could void your warranty. it shouldnt but some dealers will deny your warrenty claims because of mods. they will blame what ever is wrong was caused by the mods. personally its not worked the trouble on a corolla. with those mods u would be lucky to get 5-10 hp anyways. just wait a few years when ur warrenty is over before u start modding.

I changed the shift knob on my manual transmission and the good ppl at Perruzi Pontiac in Fairless Hills Pa tried to void my warranty..Some dealerships have been known to deny claims for ppl using a K & N filter..now granted neither one of these mods has any negative effect on the engine or trans but you have to realize that when you take ur car in for warranty work the 2nd thing the warranty person looks for is anykind of after market up grades...and exhaust headers will void ur warranty..plus ur looking at about $500 dollars for minimal hp gains..You have a economy car thats has a sports packaged, not a performance car.

Technically no. Now, If I'm working on your car, and I find the problem IS caused by your aftermarket parts. Your gonna be paying out of pocket. But that can be tough to prove. Also keep in mind that you make yourself seem like some "racer punk" and any damage will be assumed to have been caused by you abusing the car. Even if you never race. I had an 06 Corolla and I can tell you it's just not worth modifying the engine with filters/exhast etc. Only the high quality parts give any results and even then it's not much, and the quality stuff costs too much. Your better off changing the suspension/tires. It can be a suprisingly good handling car.
