Your truck is equipped with a shift interlock mechanism. This prevents the shifter from being moved out of park until you press on the brake pedal.
The problem is that the mechanism requires electrical power to operate. So if your brake light fuse is blown or the battery is dead, it won't release. The first thing I would do is check and replace that fuse if it's blown. 2 problems solved.
If there is still something wrong, you can defeat the interlock. Right next to the shifter stalk, there is a small plastic cap. Pop that off, and stick a small flat-head screwdriver in there (you'll see the little slot), and then shift out of park. You'll have to do this every time you shift from park, so get the problem fixed and make sure your brake lights are functioning before you drive around.
