08 Corolla S, would changing the tire size be a big improvement?

My used 08 Corolla S is supposed to come with P195/65 r15 tires from the factory. I bought it at a used car dealership. But months later I just noticed that it has P185 tires like the Corolla CE, which is the basic model. Would changing the tires to P195 make a big difference? When it's time to buy new tires, should I go P205 (like the Corolla XRS, or Matrix), or P215? Or is that too big?

Any particular brand or model?

Would this greatly affect my Miles per Gallon? I am able to get 39-40 mpg on the freeway doing 70mph. I know they would add weight and wind resistance to the car? Would they shorten braking distance? Would they greatly improve handling? Any help is appreciated. Thanks for the help.

i would put the correct factory size on to keep from scrubbing. the incorrect tire size will also affect your mph & gas millage.

wide tires improve traction, but add rolling resistance ( slight drop in mpg ) and will cause car to " wander and pull " if too large, oh and they cost more as well.

You would not be able to tell the difference between the 195's and the 185's. You might see very slight change in your measured fuel mileage because the 195's are bigger and your miles will be slightly longer. You could go with a 205/60 15 which is slightly wider than stock but about the same diameter. You might notice slightly better braking and cornering. I really like the Yokohama TRZ for general driving. They do well in rain and snow, are quiet and wear well.
