Carman is right. You have a timing belt. when you take it in for a timing belt service, the mechanics always recommend replacing your waterpump (and seals) at the same time because it's in the same area- inside the timng cover. It IS driven by the timing belt. That is one of a few times a mechanic's advice is truly saving you money. Since you're in there, why not get a full timing belt service? If it hasn't been done yet, get it done before it leaves you stranded or starts leaking oil from one of your seals. You'll save hundreds on labor in the long run.
