Default I just bought a 2008 Toyota 4 runner and I smell a very strong scent of ammonia off and on
while im driving .? Any ideas?

check the engine or if its rented or pre owned check the seats and interior

It's probably the washer fluid. If it have you squirted the windshield? You may have a leak in the tubing to the rear window/wiper. Try squirting front and rear and see if the smell increases.

sometimes you smell the under coting (anti rust) when it heat up might smell like ammonia I guess after sometime it goes off.good luck

sounds like maybe some body spilled some cleaning solution while detailing ur car for delivery.. the only other thing I can think of is the cabin filter may need to be changed..the previous owner may have been a smoker..
