I have a 1996 Toyota Tacoma SR5 V6. 3.4 Liter Engine with 236,000 miles. My problem is the engine light just came while I was driving & the vehicle starts to shake. When I come to a full stop the engine still vibrates. I never experienced this problem before & wanted to know what it might be. Can you help? Thanks!

Your truck's computer knows the answer; we don't. Take it to Autozone or whatever you've got near you and ask them to either scan the codes to see what the problem is or to borrow their scanner. It's ridiculously easy.































Then come back with what the code is.































I suspect the timing belt has slipped one tooth and now the cam/crank timing is off.

It sounds like the engine is missing. It is most likely a bad spark plug wire but it could be a bad injector, valve etc. You need to go to someone who can access and interpret the trouble code(s) and freeze frame data.
