It's not "required", but it's probably very healthy to do so. Good preventive maintenance, you know. I think regular alignments are rarely done by most people. But it's a major part of making sure that the wheels are properly set.
I think that after tearing apart the wheel sections, to replace the shocks/struts, that you'd want to, just as a great precaution. You will know if it's needed because there'll be some vibration. HOwever, last year, I had the struts on my 91 Geo Prizm replaced all around, and I didn't get an alignment afterwards. And on my Geo, they align all 4 tires!!, not just the front 2. There's a minor vibration at freeway speeds, otherwise, it's running pretty well.
But to be on the safe side, and to get the most out of your tires, it's always recommended to get the alignment. Just do it, and then you'll not have to worry about it, and you can be assured of best performance and safety for your truck.
