how to tell if my 2001 toyota corolla engine is blown ?

It made real loud noise then stopped. Now when trying to start the engine spins like it is not getting fire to the engine

Check your compression then fuel system, spark than go from there....

If it made a really loud noise and then stopped and it won't kick over then you probably are dealing with something blown. Check the compression on each piston and see if you're getting fuel. Most likely it seems as if something blew because that loud noise it made.

Use a compression gauge,check each cylinder one at a time.they should all be close in reading.If that is o.k. then check to see if you have spark,for this I usually use a timing light on each plug wire,if you don't have one then remove the plug and hook up plug wire , make sure the plug is grounded have someone turn it over and watch for spark.At this point if everything checks out,My guess would be it jumped time or timing belt broke.

made real loud noise then stopped would be a good sign but most likely wouldnt spin any more at all so not getting fire most likely timing chain or belt snap

From your brief description your timing belt may have broke and the pistons may have collided with the valves resulting in internal damage.

A timing belt should be replaced every 50 to 60.000 miles as a preventative maintenance item

FIRST CHECK THE TANK IF IT HAS WATER IN IT IF NOT THEN CHECK THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR THAT IS THE MAIN CAUSE IN THESE CARS I WORK IN A SCRAP YARD I KNOW ABOUT THESE CARS
