Camry Engine Swap...?

Default Camry Engine Swap...?
I often see honda's with engine swaps along with various other vehicles and I have yet to physically see a Camry with a swapped out engine...















Im not quite sure really on what I would exactly want to do, I own a 96 Camry LE at the moment but I may move up to a 99 XLE soon.















Either way id still love to do an engine swap in the future, not sure when.















Any suggestions or tips? I wouldnt be doing it, I would have it professionally done.















I am aware that it is spendy as well.















Someone suggested a 5.0L 90's Mustang Engine...?

I don't think you'll find much info on hot rodding Camrys. It's just not that kind of car. It wouldn't be any harder though than many engine swaps. I bet it costs upwards of $8k, not counting the engine and trans.

no one really does engine up grades on camry's it would be a very big project to put a v-8 in a camry,you would need to rebuild complete car from the suspension to drivetrain,interior would need to be changed in order to make a hump in center of car for driveshaft & transmission.not worth doing at all. buy a mustang or camaro that is allready rear wheel drive

Do a search on 3S-GTE powered Camrys and you will see them. The 3S-GTE is the 2.0 liter, twin cam 16 valve turbo engine found in the MR2 turbos and Celica All Trac. This bad boy starts out at 200 hp from tthe factory and can be upgraded pretty easily. While the 3S-GTE was available only with a manual transmission, the V6 Camry's automatic transmission will bolt right up easily..

Props to Terrance for stating the best engine out there to throw into your Camry. The ones I've found on e-bay run around $2k and produce 250hp because they're made for the Japanese Domestic Market.































Engine + shipping + install = around $5k































If your looking at doing all that and then have an extra $3k laying around you can easily upgrade the engine to make around 400-450hp with no problems.
