I'm not an insurance agent, but from every interaction that I've had with an insurance company what they have told me is: The Solara is classified as a 2-door Camry and as such is based upon the classification of the Camry. Keep in mind that the true name of the Solara is a Camry Solara. It is front-wheel drive, either 4cyl or 6cyl, not 8cyl or more, has 4 seats that are actually usable by someone other than a double amputee in the rear area especially.
So, without being able to guarantee it, but from previous discussions with several insurance companies (10 or more on different occasions), no it is not considered a sports car for insurance purposes.
Hope this helps.
