If the drive belt has a crack, what could this do to my Toyota Yaris?

Default If the drive belt has a crack, what could this do to my Toyota Yaris?
The dealer said it could break at any time, so then what? Would my car engine die?

it wont die but it could overheat i would just replace it they don't cost very much

what do you mean by (drive belt) cars dont have a drive belt if you mean timeing belt thin yes whin it breaks to motor will stop

Where is the crack you are talking about? If it is on the smooth side the belt needs to be replaced right away. If the cracks are on the grooved side it is pretty normal for the drive belts to get a few cracks in them as they age. I have NEVER seen one break! They should be replaced when there are a lot of cracks in the grooved side. If the belt fails the engine will run but you cannot drive the car, it will overheat.
