Default '86 toyota 22 re engine losing coolant. no visible leaks. Dye and pressure test negative....
...What's wrong? Engine has 40K miles. Runs smooth. No overheating unless low on coolant. No steamy exhaust. No coolant in oil or oil in radiator. Soooo, what's going on??

Classic problem of quite possibly the best engine ever made. There is a plate behind the timing chain that the timing chain can rub on and actually wear through. It's most likely in a pickup; if so easy fix. Don't wait or you cook the engine.
